See and Do
From world class extreme sports facilities to areas of outstanding natural beauty, Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring and surrounding villages; the Borough of Dacorum, have plenty for visitors and residents to enjoy.
Dacorum offers a range of activities for those of us who enjoy the buzz of adrenaline & adventure. Hemel Hempstead is home to the XC, a world class extreme sports facility boasting an impressive skate park, 14m climbing wall, one of the world’s largest organic indoor caving systems, bouldering and a challenging high ropes course. The Snow Centre, also located in Hemel Hempstead, offers indoor skiing and snowboarding experiences on real snow.
For a gentler pace of life, the tranquil surroundings of the rolling Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are close at hand, while beautiful parklands in Tring and Ashridge provide the perfect setting for a family picnic.
The Grand Union Canal flows right through the heart of the borough, from Kings Langley in the south up to Tring in the north and beyond. The footpaths alongside the canal are great for a low-level ambling walk or cycle ride, and plenty of canalside pubs and restaurants for a well-earned rest.
Dacorum is steeped in history with Berkhamsted Castle, one of the oldest examples of a motte and bailey castle in the country, Frogmore Paper Mill, the world’s oldest mechanised paper mill and the Natural History Museum in Tring to name but a few.
