A tranquil scene featuring a calm river surrounded by lush greenery and trees, with pinkish foliage visible. The landscape is well-maintained, and a path runs alongside the water, creating a serene outdoor environment.

Jellicoe Water Gardens

The Water Gardens surround the River Gade, which runs adjacent to the town centre in Hemel Hempstead. Created by the renowned landscape designer Geoffrey Jellicoe in 1962, the gardens were restored back to their former glory in 2017. Today, the gardens remain one of Jellicoe’s most intact schemes and a fine example of 20th century urban design. As such, they feature on English Heritage’s register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest.
