Summer of Dino Activities!

The Dinosaurs have escaped and are hiding all over Dacorum including trails in both Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead! See below for all the family fun activities that are all themed around these wonderful beasts.

 

Summer Dinosaur Trail, Marlowes Shopping Centre

Calling all explorers! Are you up for the challenge of finding 10 ferocious beasts and gentle giants around The Marlowes from 25th July – 4th September?

You can pick up a guide from the customer services desk in the Marlowes shopping centre which you can complete and return to the desk to be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 voucher for The Entertainer.

If that wasn’t enough, Shoppers can also snap a selfie with the dinosaurs and upload it to social media using #TheMarlowesDinos and be entered into a competition to win an amazing prize bundle from The Entertainer.

Berkhamsted Dino Trail

Dacorum, are you ready for a roar-some summer adventure?! The Berkhamsted Dino Trail has landed!

Join us on a Jurassic adventure and unearth some ferociously fascinating dinosaur facts! Use the @LoyalFreeapp to travel along the trail, scanning each QR code to reveal the answers. Scan them all for your chance to win some great prizes.

Discover hidden letters along the way – find all the letters and solve the anagram for an extra chance to win the prize!

As well as all the fun activities taking place in Hemel Hempstead town centre, Hemel Hempstead BID have created an activity pack with a word search, colouring in and lots of information on all the events happening in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre this summer. Fossils

Meet Mary Anning, the greatest fossil hunter of all time and travel to the beaches of Lyme Regis in the 1800’s.

Mary found the first ever Dinosaur Skeleton at the age or 12 years old and now she is looking for her next big find. Can you become a palaeontologist and help Mary search the beaches for fossils. If you look hard enough you might even find a Dinosaur skeleton or Megalodon tooth.

Head down to the Rainbow Stage in Hemel Hempstead on Monday 8th August at either 11am, 12pm, 1pm or 2pm to watch this wonderful performance.

 

Baby Dino Puppet

Izzy loves dinosaurs and after wishing on a shooting star she is visited by a magical fairy who brings some of her toys to life. They embark on a magical adventure meeting life-like toys along the way. Izzy’s dreams come true when her toy dinosaur comes to life. She soon realises her toy is now a real Baby T Rex and she has to learn very quickly how to look after it.

On Monday 15th August, visit the Rainbow Stage to experience more dinosaur magic! Performances are at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

 

Animatronic T-Rex

On Monday 22nd August in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre, join The Magical Story Elves team once again on this exciting, interactive, Jurassic adventure.

Here you can meet a real life T Rex as well as take part in lots of dinosaur-themed fun and games.

Babsy the Mad scientist has created a working time machine and has decided to take a group of adventurers back in time to the Jurassic period. Joanne the Dino Trainer is already there and has found some T-Rex footprints.

Babsy, Joanne and the adventures follow the footprints and discover all sorts of fun dino facts along the way. Eventually they track down Tracey the real T Rex and realise that she is very friendly and they bring her back to 2022 with them.

Performances are at 11am, 12pm, 1pm or 2pm.

 

Dino Trail in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre!

The Dinosaurs have escaped and we need your help to find them all!

From 29th July to 28th August there will eight dinosaurs that are lost in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre. If you manage to find all the dinosaur friends then you will have a chance to win one of the 8 prize bundles if you complete the trail!

POSTPONED: Your Town Run, Gadebridge Park

Due to the Amber extreme heat weather warning issued by the Met Office, and the associated risk to health, we have made the decision to postpone this Sunday’s Your Town event in Hemel Hempstead.

Everyone who has already purchased tickets will receive a notification and refund. We’re sorry for any disappointment this may cause and hope to confirm a new date for the event soon.

On Sunday 17th July Gadebridge Park will be hosting the 4th Your Town run. There will be a minimum ticket price of £8 that will be required to take part with all the proceeds being donated to the Mayor’s charity.

The charity that the Mayor has chosen this year is Dacorum Community Trust.

Fun in the Sun is back in Dacorum!

Knitting at Dacorum Creative Art Hub

Join local artists, led by Susan Pilborough, to create a giant knitted sculpture!

Available for ages 9-12 year olds, that are accompanied by an adult, they will get the opportunity to knit fabric using huge wooden needless and learn about design and sculpture.

The sessions are on the 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th and 18th August from 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm. So make sure you book on for this fun and creative session. For more information click here.

 

Champagne House Tours, Ashridge House

Over the years Ashridge House has been home to monks and monarchs, lords and ladies, and even patients on a maternity ward! Now you have the chance to wander the historic hallways and learn about its fascinating story, accompanied by a luxurious glass of champagne.

Your knowledgeable tour guide will take you on a journey from the Main Hall to the Well House, covering 730 years of rich history along the way. Starting with the monastic period, through the years as a royal household and stately home, then finishing with an overview of its modern history through the war years and finally its current life as an international business school.

Midsummer Nights Dream, Ashridge House

Head over to Ashridge House on Tuesday 23rd August for a performance of the Shakespeare classic Midsummers Night Dream from the award winning theatre company Illyria.

Five couples – three human, one fairy, and one mythical – find their relationships sorely tested, intimately probed and indecently exposed when a troupe of amateur theatricals bumble into the forest to rehearse a play.Midsummers Night Dream is the ever-popular story that follows four couples as they navigate the trials of romance, lust – and an enchanted forest. Escape into the great outdoors for the perfect midsummer’s night of entertainment.

The run time is approximately 2hrs 20mins which includes a 20 minute interval and is suitable for all ages 5+
