This small section of cottages in the village of Piccotts End house a rare discovery, made back in 1953. Whilst repairs were being carried out, the owner, Arthur Lindley, uncovered some of the most remarkable medieval wall paintings.
Further investigations have uncovered that the paintings continued lower down. These discoveries, and the deatails of what the building might have been are still a mystery however there are strong suggestions is may have been a pilgrims’ hospital.
(Privately owned building, very limited public access. Normally restricted by owners to Heritage Open day event in September).
