Our Towns

Dacorum embraces the new town of Hemel Hempstead, the historic market towns of Berkhamsted and Tring as well as picturesque villages and rural locations.

Hemel Hempstead

From the Tudor market town, known locally as The Old Town to the post-war New Town, Hemel Hempstead, has plenty for visitors to enjoy.

Approximately 30 minutes from London Euston station, the town is within easy reach of London for a day out: out-of-town extreme sports centres, a fabulous shopping centre, canal and riverside pubs, Boxmoor meadows, are just a small selection of things the whole family can enjoy.  And if you need more time? There are plenty of places to stay and relax overnight.

The historic market town of Berkhamsted is a vibrant residential and cultural centre, with the Norman motte and bailey Berkhamsted Castle as a backdrop.

Enjoy retail therapy with a many designer boutiques and gift shops as well high street chain stores, and take a break in one of the many cafés or restaurants.

The historic market town of Tring is a quaint town with its red-brick buildings and independent shops, and it was once the home of George Washington’s great-grandfather, John Washington.

Many Hertfordshire residents have school day memories of a trip to the Natural History Museum in Tring, but it’s a lovely town to explore as an adult (with or without children!)

Tring Together is a community led organisation putting on a programme of exciting events throughout the year.
